John Foster FLACK was killed in action on the 5th of October 1917 at YPRES, Belgium. His last letter to his parents was written in the trenches and was incorrectly dated 6 October 1917. His last letter also included a lock of his hair.

The letter and lock of hair has been set into a framed portrait that will be soon hung in the Club. The Photograph is owned and was kindly donated by Mrs Norma FLACK.

You may recall that last year, in recognition of the Centenary of ANZAC, the Braidwood RSL sub-branch produced and published books outlining the histories of the 88 men who did not return at the end of that war.

This year, to complete the task, we have identified the 387 men and women who went to WWI and returned. We are in the process of publishing these histories, with the intention of launching them this ANZAC Day.

If you have any photographs of your family members, such as John Flack who went to WW1 in uniform or civilian life we would like a copy of them to put into the book. Or if you have any other history of these men and women you would like to share, please contact Karen or Chris Nelson on 0484 201 106. Time is fast running out and we need the photographs by no later than the end of March 2016.
