Remembering the victory in the pacific -15 August 1945

Victory in the Pacific Day.  Saturday 15th August 2015
One of the members of our Braidwood RSL sub-branch penned a thoughtful reminder:

It is now seventy years since the signing of the surrender and peace accord against Japan or victory in the Pacific
Do we let this anniversary past without recall, or at least ponder what Australasia would be today if it were not for our courageous men and women who stood firm in that generational battle ?
"To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born into always remain a child "--Cicero
So please ,when you wake from your secure slumber, go about your chosen day without tyrannical interference ,engage in your leisure activities and expressions of beliefs.
Please spare, one minute, one second of empathy for the men , women and those families who paid for our right to enjoy our Freedom
"That sound of gentle sobbing in the south "
was their currency they remitted in the belief of a better life for all Australians
Freedom = future. Ignore that at our peril.
