ANZAC DAY 2015. 100 years of ANZAC.

ANZAC DAY 2015. 100 years of ANZAC.

Part of our commemoration this year includes a unique and moving ceremony that will see 87 local School Children chosen to represent one of our fallen Soldiers. Well before Anzac Day they will receive a book in their adopted Soldiers name and containing his military documents and personal information from which they will study and learn and come to know their Soldier intimately. They will march as a unit and when called forward by their adopted Soldiers name will place a quarter Australian Flag as a sign of respect, remembrance and honour along the edge of Ryrie Park facing Wallace Street.

Prior to Anzac Day the students will also receive a number of formal drill lessons given by an ex Infantry NCO, who will only use their adopted Soldiers name when addressing them during the drill sessions. I believe that this will be a powerful educational and visual way to pass on our proud remembrance of those young men who never came home to Braidwood, or who came home changed forever between 1915 and 1918. Lest We Forget. NEVER..
